Today Adobe announced that they have created a partnership with Google and Yahoo! to start indexing SWF files for their search engines! Its about time! Ok no hard feelings Adobe for the wait. Honestly we are really just starting to hit FULL stride with Flash content being the standard for nearly all rich web content. So its understandable that this ahs been on the back burners of most everyone. Keyword 'most'.

Where is Microsoft in this deal? They WANT to be the leader in search but they aren't following the trends of the world around them? HAHA. Well one maybe Adobe couldn't let them inside the player cause they would know to much. But also maybe MS is doing there normal nose in the air thinking they don't need anyone else.Who knows. All I know is that MS is never going to be anything again in the search game with deals like this going on.

Well great work Adobe, Google and Yahoo! we all love you for thinking about us and keeping your eye forward to a better web!

Hey guys sorry its been so long since my last post! Lots of great new exciting news going on in my world. I started a new job at Click Here in Dallas, TX. I will be heading up the Flash team and helping them structure the group to work in a more team type development process. I have been very busy learning their system and processes that the company has. Also spending lots of time building up some great new internal projects for Click Here. Some I can't talk about but many others I will be sharing as time goes on. I am in no way planning to leave the blog behind. I love keep to up with the Flash world and share the wealth of knowledge that I find here on the nets.

Thanks for being patient with me and I will defiantly have lots of new news to share with you guys in the very immediate future! Thanks again! Cheers!

I will miss you iPhone... I know we have yet to see the REAL features of the iPhone 2.0 update but something tells me its not going to reach the potential of Android. Android is a project being developed by the The Open Handset Alliance. Please take a moment and read over the features of Android and see where it's going and its future. Its a truly incredible project and some us Flash developers can get excited about also. I'm sure we will see the Flash Player here before Apple's iPhone and thats very exciting. I hope it catches wind among many phone developers and allows us all to experience cell phone service in a whole new way!

So I might be WAY behind on this one but I had never found an exact answer as to how it could be accomplished. So I know most of you guys that build flash sites HATE when users click on a link in your site and FireFox or Internet Exploder try to block ur basic links! Well if your like me and can't get that to go away today is your lucky day! Here's what you do. Three easy steps!

1. Embed your site using the SWFObject
2. In the parameters for the SWFObject be sure to use wmode and set it to opaque or transparent.
3. Last thing is you CAN NOT use on Press actions for the buttons. Use on Release instead.

And that's it! Viola! All your links out to external sites etc will no longer be blocked by a popup blocker! Enjoy! Oh and Let me know if you find any issues with this.

Currently tested:
FireFox 2.0.0.14, Safari 3.1.1 and IE7

Update:
I have heard yes and nos about the wmode needing to be set. You can play with it and see what works best for you!

Ok I'm kidding but it does involve "Astro" and no not the dog from the Jetsons! Its the first release of the Flash 10 Player! Yes kiddos the future is here! Since I haven't had time to really dive in and see whats going on. I'll let a few of the other folks around the Flash Community Tell you about it. But first here is the features Adobe wanted to talk about first!

Key New Features
3D Effects - Easily transform and animate any display object through 3D space while retaining full interactivity. Fast, lightweight, and native 3D effects make motion that was previously reserved for expert users available to everyone. Complex effects are simple with APIs that extend what you already know.

Custom Filters and Effects - Create your own portable filters, blend modes, and fills using Adobe® Pixel Bender™, the same technology used for many After Effects CS3 filters. Shaders in Flash Player are about 1KB and can be scripted and animated at runtime.

Advanced Text Layout - A new, highly flexible text layout engine, co-existing with TextField, enables innovation in creating new text controls by providing low-level access to text offering right-to-left and vertical text layout, plus support for typographic elements like ligatures.

Enhanced Drawing API - Runtime drawing is easier and more powerful with re-styleable properties, 3D APIs, and a new way of drawing sophisticated shapes without having to code them line by line.

Visual Performance Improvements – Applications and videos will run smoother and faster with expanded use of hardware acceleration. By moving several visual processing tasks to the video card, the CPU is free to do more.

Looks like the guys pushing adobe to make some noise will be very happy! Oh and check out the links below for more infomation on the newest release of the Adobe Flash 10 Player, code name Astro.

Well I've got a treat for you! Snackr, an AIR app developed by Narciso Jaramillo who is a product designer for Flex and is working on Thermo also from what I have heard!

Anyway Snackr is a RSS ticker that just fits onto the side of your desktop in place you would like it (Top, Bottom, Left, Right). It has some neat little features in it now but its very early in development it looks like and has lots of features to come on the wish list! I can't wait to get updates for this one! Some of these new features will help out a ton but its still great now and I would recommend it to anyone.

My use for it has been for blogs that update ALOT and that I don't have time to read all the time. Like engadget, gizmodo, espn and a few others! It defiantly and quickly made the list of AIR apps to have! Thanks NJ!

So last night I was watching twitter and saw that Adobe got up the MXNA feeds.adobe.com! This is a great resource for flash developers or anything Adobe and more. It gives you a great centralized location to find great information on application development and creativity from many different backgrounds. Take a look for your self!

Also stealing a bit of a great idea from a favorite blog of mine (eismann-sf.com/news) I've decided to start posting some of my favorite links I have discovered. Not sure how often this is going to happen but it will be easier for you all to find some fun links I found on here, instead of having to check my messy del.icio.us account!

With that said enjoy the links:
