So if you guys are like me and gradually moving to the AS3 world full time you should be looking out for new resources for developing your new projects. I'm trying to find all the class libraries, frameworks, api's etc I can find. Below you will find a mind map that I put together with Mind Node that lays out a bunch of the libraries I have found. If you can help out by leaving a comment below with some of your favorites i can add to the list that would be much appreicated! Once I get a pretty good list together I'd like to build an AIR app we can all use as a simple resource utility. Thanks for your help!

I will miss you iPhone... I know we have yet to see the REAL features of the iPhone 2.0 update but something tells me its not going to reach the potential of Android. Android is a project being developed by the The Open Handset Alliance. Please take a moment and read over the features of Android and see where it's going and its future. Its a truly incredible project and some us Flash developers can get excited about also. I'm sure we will see the Flash Player here before Apple's iPhone and thats very exciting. I hope it catches wind among many phone developers and allows us all to experience cell phone service in a whole new way!
Android videos after the break:
So I might be WAY behind on this one but I had never found an exact answer as to how it could be accomplished. So I know most of you guys that build flash sites HATE when users click on a link in your site and FireFox or Internet Exploder try to block ur basic links! Well if your like me and can't get that to go away today is your lucky day! Here's what you do. Three easy steps!
1. Embed your site using the SWFObject
2. In the parameters for the SWFObject be sure to use wmode and set it to opaque or transparent.
3. Last thing is you CAN NOT use on Press actions for the buttons. Use on Release instead.
And that's it! Viola! All your links out to external sites etc will no longer be blocked by a popup blocker!
Enjoy! Oh and Let me know if you find any issues with this.
Currently tested:
FireFox 2.0.0.14, Safari 3.1.1 and IE7
Update:
I have heard yes and nos about the wmode needing to be set. You can play with it and see what works best for you!
Good morning! Hey guys, gals and all other bloggers. I was just doing some browsing of the nets and found out there is going to be a WordCamp meeting in Frisco, Tx. I was just wondering if any of you other Flash bloggers in the area would be attending! I am thinking about going. But I'm not sure I can make the whole event due to previous plans. Are you going? I'd love to know if so! Ping me on Twitter or just comment below! Thanks!
Wow! Have you guys seen this? Sprout Builder is a new startup that brings flash widget/banner building to the browser through a very clean and simle interface. It lets you build FLV player's, RSS readers, slideshows, countdown timers, mp3 players and the list goes on. The Beta has become public and anyone can try it out! It truely is incredible work. I built a simple custom RSS reader for my blog in about 5 mins. I would suggest checking it out and digging around. Its a great place for non developers to start seeing developers tools come to life quickly and easily! For you developers be careful though, sending those pesky creatives to it might give them ideas thinking our job is really this easy! Great work Sprout team its a beautiful project!
My buddy Preston emailed me this, this morning and its probably the greatest thing ever. The email's title was "Is this how our employers feel??" Pretty damn funny! More thoughts to come on this topic no time now!

Microsoft boys have done something pretty amazing. The worldwide telescope project! It even made Mr. Scoble cry! If you haven't seen this I would suggest you see it now. Well, that is if our outer space mystifies you like it does me! The best video I found is from the TED conference. Much better than what MS put out. Which isn't surprising.
Video from TED: http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/224
And a good quote from Scoble.
I cried because I realized just how much work, money, and all that went into making these images. I never had access to them before. Certainly not in this way so I could compare them by clicking a button. As a taxpayer who’s helped pay for some of these telescopes it’s the first time I’ve seen the results of my and your, investments in our scientific research.
Amen brother!
This morning I was doing my usual browsing of thefwa.com checking in to see what new exciting work our flash world was putting out. And I see a little banner in the upper right that says SoDA... SoDA? What's this? So obviously I have to click. So it opens up and I am presented with some logos of a few of the top agencies in our interactive world. Companies like agencynet, Big Spaceship, Juxt Interactive, first born and many more. Once it lands on its final screen it gives a bit of info about SoDA saying...
"The Society of Digital Agencies (SoDA) is being established as the voice of the interactive industry worldwide, with a mission to advance to profession through knowledge sharing, education and advocacy." Learn More.
What? How cool does this sound? This is exactly what our young under estimated group of interactive developers needs! A collaborative group set out to share and educate others about what the interactive world is doing! You can signup for more info via the banner ad.
But if you or anyone you know is apart of this and/or has some insider info they would like to share. I would love to know more to help out the community! It would be neat to have blog badges to help spread the word. Or even a way to signup for more info other than the banner on the FWA site banner. Well I can't wait to find out more about the organization! Thanks to all those involved. We will be anxiously awaiting more news!
Update: I went to the URL - http://www.societyofdigitalagencies.com/ and its being parked by godaddy.com. Although I'm not sure if this will be an official site its still very interesting. Keep your eyes peeled!
Update 2: As many of you know they announced SoDA at SXSW in Austin, TX this past weekend. You can sign up to receive more info at http://www.societyofdigitalagencies.org/. Enjoy!
Sweeeet! RC of Adobe's Layer's Magazine caught wind of my letter to Adobe and the future of flash article Lee Brimelow wrote also. It made the homepage of Layer's Magazine this morning with The Wednesday Morning news. The article is titled Extensions in Flash | Flash Frustrations & Futures | Congratulations in Order. Run over and check it out! I think its really cool to have another voice talking about the letter!
