Software + Donations

Hey guys so I finally got around to buying the Mac Heist Bundle today. In case you haven't heard about it its a neat promotion they are doing to help out some charities and also give away a bunch of cheap software. Alot of it is great software to share with friends who are wanting to learn some highend products but there are a few really great tools for more experienced users. One I am most excited about is CSSEdit. A friend of mine recommended it a while back and I have been meaning to try it out. The package also includes a nice screen capture tool called Snapz Pro X. It will be the true value for me out of this bunch, cause I've been needing a tool for doing some screencasting and since the bundle is $50 bucks and Snapz is usually $70 it was hard to pass up. I can't wait to try them out! Maybe I will post a screen cast or two about them. Oh and last but not least is 1password. This might be a neat tool to toy with but I am skeptical of its security and what I could be giving up if someone was able to access it would be catastrophic.

Feeling the rush!

How great has this month been! A brand new year and brand new blog for me! CES 2008 and now MacWorld. Its feels like the month has just flown by! And it doesn't look like its slowing down anytime soon!

So tonight my friend is going to stop by and I'm going to try and give him my quick 411 on fuse and how I have been using it the past 6 months. While we work I am going to build a tutorial to share the knowledge with all of you guys! So it should be a really fun post and my first try at sharing some of my knowledge. So bare with me but it should be lots of fun. For those of you not familiar with fuse you should first check out the fuse site, also look at gotoandlearn.com where lee brimelow has a great fuse tutorial and then download the cheat sheet that has been put together by ewaon.com. I keep one in front of me pretty much at all times along with a few other cheat sheets. They are very handy to get a quick look at the methods and properties we have available in flash and fuse.

I also wanted to say thanks to all the new visitors and I hope I can entertain you all enough to keep you coming back!

Update:
I haven't had time yet to write the  post on our quick fuse session but I will try to put it together later!

Mac World 2008

As you all know its macworld time! I'm going to keep my nose in gizmodo and engadget to try and keep up. More news to come!

3, 2, 1... GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Update:
Shewww... well its all over and I'm installing the new iPhone firware as I post this! Can't wait to play with the new features. I hope that it will store my login to gmail now! I'm sick and tired of having to login like 60 times a day to check my mail on there. Ok not that much but still. Bleh!

What do we think? We got a new Macbook, the Macbook Air, and also Time Capsule which I cannot wait to get my hands on one. I hate having to have my notebook plugged into a USB to be backing it up with Time Machine. I know, I know pick your battles but damn it is 2008 let's start using all this great technology we have available! Oh and the new Apple TV and the new movie rental deal which sounds ok. New apps for the iPod Touch thats a great addition to that product. Glad they decided on that. But most of all I can't wait to start using the iPhone 1.1.3 updated phone. Since I have one it will affect me the most right away.

Well I guess that's it for now. I'll try and post some more as news unveils today and people get their hands on some of these products.

Oh and last thing? NO CD DRIVE on the macbook air?!?!? WTF? That's going to be something to see how people like that! I mean really? Remote disc drive? Can an office have like 10 machines setup to use one disc drive then? To weird for me right now. But I am glad to see them add the gesture pad. Can you make that a firmware update to my macbook pro? please?!?!?!

Check out the Apple MacBook Air commercial also. Lots of Fun!

a couple of updates…

Ok so as you can tell the blog has taken on a new look and most likely will do so again in the near future. The current look is 'vader' from K2 for now. But I'm hoping to get time tonight to at least work on the header! But for now, thanks k2 for the improvement!

Also this weekend I spent about 2 hours putting together a really simple coming soon page for projectx4.com that shows off some of the work I have been doing the past two years. Its nothing special but at least there is something new up. I hope over the next few months to get a new site up. But I haven't set any deadlines for myself yet since i'm not totally sold on the design I have built so far.

While adding K2 to my blog I also setup some more stuff for keeping those pesky spammers away so you may notice that as well. And the blog roll keeps getting bigger also as you will notice some new additions over there. Anyway thanks for visiting a reading.

And last but not least I bought a PRO account at flickr! w00t! mostly cause they limit you from making only three set with the standard free account? Thats what suckered me in. sigh* I mean come on 3 sets! Pretty weak. Anyway I added some photos of my home and work offices. I will post more soon but you can at least you can see all the pretty macs I get to work on!

Wordpress Plugins for Google Analytics

Hey guys this is just a general post hoping some of you readers might have some input on implementing google analytics into wordpress.  Its more for fun than anything just to see where all you guys are coming from nationally and globally. I did a quick google search on the topic and came across semiologic's google analytics plugin. Have any of you guys used it or had experience with other ones? The semiologic one doesn't yet support the new google a.js analytics code from google. So I was just wondering have you guys found one you like well and that maybe works the new ga.js code? Thanks for the help!

So close. Yet so far!

So I did some work for Uniden GPS, and cordless phones for their booth at CES this year. Supposedly some of my animations were going to be in the interview they were doing with FOX 4 but they didn't quite get the spot I was hoping for! Errrr any way its kind of funny. Here is the link http://tinyurl.com/393sf9. Once there you have to click on 'North Texas Company Leads in Phone Industry'. Its seriously WAAAAAY in the background. Grrrrr so so close. Oh well maybe next year but for those of you that made it to CES maybe you got to see them! They were all built with Fuse and they run really smooth. Its great to be able to animate with Fuse it makes creative changes quick and painless. Thanks Moses!

thefwa + mr. doob

Hey I thought I'd let you guys know there is a pretty great interview on thefwa.com where the interview mr. doob. Its a fun read to see what he is up to and a little insight into his life. If you're not familiar with him you should be. He is on the PV3D team, works for Hi-ReS, and has a great blog and demo site at mrdoob.com. Anyway its kind fun to notice how close most of us flash guys really are in personality and things we enjoy and are proud of. Jump on over to thefwa.com and check it out. Enjoy!

The love of new technology!

So I'm sure all of you are fully aware that the Consumer Electronic Show (CES 2008) is going on right now. So I'm not going to give you the 411 on all the news cause there are plenty of places to find all the info your heart desires. I just wanted to touch on a few things and say how exciting it is to see what all the new year has to bring us in the technology world! Lots of new devices running flash/air/flex apps. And just a huge barrage of new TV's and awesome announcements.

What have you guys seen that you're excited about? Can't wait to hear!

The last 4 months with the new gig.

So I just realized I hadn't actually posted any of my latest work since I've been at the bhatch. So here is a quick little post with some of the sites I have built and launched in the last few months.

Lela Rose

These are the two I am definatly most proud of but I assure you there has been alot of other work as well. Both of these site utilize alot of Fuse which I must say is the biggest savior of time when developing flash sites. I will try to post some info on what I have learned about it in the future. Also when I get a chance to update the blog design I will be sure to create a roll of links to the sites I have been developing.

2008… Hopes and dreams. (But not promises)

Happy New Year everyone! I know I am a bit late but so far this year my life has been a busy mess. With CES being this week and one of my companies biggest clients being Uniden its been a hectic week. But that's not why were here is it.

No...

This post is just to hopefully give me something to look back at next year and say hey I did pretty good with my goals in 2008. One of my biggest goals is getting this blog moving and having it be a part of my weekly life. My hopes are to get a few of you flash guys out there following my very average life and helping me learn about life, flash and whatever we can accomplish together.

I have some big dreams and goals for myself this year. My first is to finish January 2008 on a high note with finishing all my freelance and moving forward with my personal projects. I think 2008 will be a year for me and my personal growth and hopefully helping some or you guys grow too. So here are some hopes and dreams for my 2008.

1. Learn... AS3 (and alot about coding for that matter)

2. Design... a better more integrated home for projectx4.com. This means a new site and blog design that will grow with me and utilize many of our available open source tools we have available at our finger tips. (i.e. swx, go, red5, etc...)

3. Blog... better and more often. This might be my hardest task but something I think that will be important to my growth.

4. Share... my code and experiences with flash. Cause its hard to do this all by yourself.

Ok so I might have to come back and edit this post since I haven't had much time to really review it or even write it but we will see. Ok so anyway, January might be a slow month for me here but I want to pick things up from here on out and make this a great year for all of us. I look forward to seeing what I can accomplish with you all this year! Thanks and good luck!
