Whao where have you been?

I've been moving to NYC and much more!!

NYC by: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27263572@N05/

Ok so some of you may have known but I have been in transition with my life over the past few months! I have gotten engaged, moved from Dallas to NYC, changed jobs and the list goes on. Well it looks like things are finally starting to slow down and get back to normal! As normal as life can be in NYC that is! But I love it best move I could of ever made and I owe it all to my wonderful fiance. She helped to push me to make this change cause she does know best. Anyway I thought it was about time I let you all know about all this change.

Anyway enough rambling! When am I going to get back to the blog you ask? Well that's something else that I place to change. I am planning to move blog.projectx4.com to the url projectx4.com with out the "blog." in front of it for ease of use. And there will be some much needed design changes. I am hoping all this can take place over the next month but don't hold me to it as life is flying fast here in NY. As for the the old posts etc. I am going to keep them in place just so the old content isn't lost. But this url will most likely only be updated 2-3 more times to keep everyone posted about the changes. That's that, sorry for the long delay and not posting any good news but I will be back, I promise you that! Talk to you soon! Much sooner than last time too!

Oh and I do post to twitter quite often so please follow me there too! Cheers!

Adobe launches Facebook integration site

Facebook,Facebook Facebook! I think that's the hottest word on the block today besides good ol Twitter. Everything from clients looking for ways to use the hot Facebook Connect to how can we build a Facebook App? Advertisers are looking for more and more ways to connect with their tech savy users and Facebook has become the definitive answer. Yesterday Adobe even took on the Facebook phenom with their very own developers connection site dedicated to building Facebook Apps on the Flash Platform. I'm excited to see Adobe working on this type of content for developers. Its defiantly some good stuff for anyone working in or around the advertising world. The new site gives some examples on how to get started building your own apps and shares examples of how others are already using it. Check it out!

Safari 4 – Flash Alt Content

I'm sure you all know by now that the new Safari 4 BETA is out and live at http://www.apple.com/safari/. Which BETA at the url is a bit strange from Apple but thats what they did. Ok anyway... since they now have this "Top Sites" view for the main tab it means a lot to us Flash guys and the alt HMTL content we choose for our brands/sites. Its going to be a MUST to choose something recognizable for your site so users will know what's what if your site happens to make a users top site.

If you are not in the habit of building alternate content for your flash sites take a look into SWFObject. They give a quick easy way to swap content using div tags when there is and is not flash content. In the case of the Safari 4 "Top Sites" view only pulls HTML content to render. Its not able to grab the SWF and display it there. Hence the reason you must be sure to build your pages with alternate HTML content. This is good practice for not only Safari 4 but for Google indexing, SEO and for any users you have that might not have the Flash Player installed. Doing things like this will make you and your brands much more successful. Cheers!

Keepin in touch!

I don't know about you guys but I love to know whats going on at Adobe and I enjoy keeping my ears open. In our world today our ears can be huge from blogs to twitter and so many other resources! Recently Serge Jespers of http://www.webkitchen.be made it very apparent Adobe is in the business of helping to keep us in the know. Not only by creating a strong evangelism community but allowing those employees to reach out in so many mediums. Check out Serge's post on Adobe and Twitter!

Also I keep a HUGE list of blogs in my adobe reader on many flash developers. That feed is public and might help you find some new resources to help you also. Cheers!

UPDATE: Follow some Flash Liters on Twitter also!

AS3 – Rotating loaded images on a center point

So I have been putting off posting any AS3 code examples for a while now. This actually is the first one I have done that I can remember. Its just a simple test to show how to organize code for rotating loaded images on their center points. Please feel free to download it learn and use at your own will. I hope it helps a few of you get off your feet and started down the road of AS3.

WE/Milliennial Generation

Here WE come... together!

Brain Food Videos!

This first one I really enjoy. Its things like this I spend a lot of time thinking about. Wondering what we are doing here in the US. Is it going to work in the future? Are we preparing ourselves for the future or are we just being complacent with who we are? This video really tests your thoughts about what is to come.

This video is great to see how we got to where we are on the www. Jump to the vimeo page to see how it was created. They provide all the icons for free!
